Recycling / End-of-Life

Many businesses and home computer owners are not aware that the composition of their computer equipment contains hazardous materials. These pollutants need special attention regarding disposal. Actions resulting in landfill dumping are harmful to the environment and subject you to serious fines.

When assets are non functional or have little value in current markets they have reached their end-of-life. American Asset can assist you with having these assets properly disposed so they can again find new life from their intrinsic materials.

Assets that leave our facility are sent to our shredding partners. These partners are located in the United States only. Assets are shredded down to tiny chunks and divided by machines based on material content. This process continues until the raw material can be separated. Other technologies may also be applied such as smelting. A process that uses heat and temperature differences to further sort and divide materials.

Once a certain level of separation has occurred the raw material can be sent to proper markets and applied to new technologies. By using this process American Asset can safely and properly avoid the landfills and allow for the reuse of materials.

Computer Hazardous Waste:

  1. Lead in cathode ray tube and solder.
  2. Arsenic in older cathode ray tubes.
  3. Selenium in circuit boards as power supply rectifier.
  4. Polybrominated flame retardants in plastic casings, cables and circuit boards.
  5. Antimony trioxide as flame retardant.
  6. Cadmium in circuit boards and semiconductors
  7. Chromium in steel as corrosion protection.
  8. Cobalt in steel for structure and magnetivity.
  9. Mercury in switches and housing.
